small, hopeful, lightningWhen I first saw you, it was so so dark, and wet and raining.
I remember at first seeing a small light out of the the corner of my eye.
Only for a second, soon it was gone.
I looked around and waited to see it again.
I sighed, and had nearly given up, but then it was back, brighter.
I looked to its source. A tiny bug, hovering and blinking.
You were so small, so fragile, but your light gave me hope.
The water splashed and soaked into my bones as I traveled to you.
I picked you up and I held you in my hands.
You gave me no warmth, but it was comfort none the less.
You told me you did not shine for me, yet I did not care.
Your light gave me hope.
I tucked you neatly away into a tiny bottle, and wore you around my neck like a charm.
You didn't complain, just happy to give someone your light.
I wandered with you through deserts, mountains, and forests.
In the end, you told me you wanted to be my light all along.
