For the first time, Kendall noticed the obnoxious, flickering white light swinging slightly in the middle of the dirty, dark rusted over room in which he was sitting in the corner of.  He groaned.  Why did he think it was a good idea to fall asleep here?  However long he was positioned in that way, it gave him a raging headache.  He reached up to rub his forehead, and found a part that was wet and sticky.  He looked at his fingers.  Was that blood?  What the hell was going on!?
"Good mornin', mate." the blonde looked up to see the short man with the accent, which he now recognized as Australian, standing in front of the metal door that he could have sworn wasn't there before.  Kendall attempted to back away, before remembering he was already stuck in a corner.  "...are you the one who hit me?  Why are we here?" he asked the man, hesitently getting up.
The man just chuckled.  "I have no intention of harming or maiming you, Mr. Skinner.  You're too valuable to me, after all." "Then what was the whole 'damn pests' thing about?"  He paused for a few moments, a curious look on his face before it turned into a glare.  "I think it's about time you woke up, mate."
It frightened Kendall, that look.  He recognized it from their first encounter.  He tried scurrying away, but before he knew it, he was being shoved face first into a murky puddle.

He sat up with a gasp.  He looked around for a few moments.  He was back in his apartment, it seemed.  He touched his face.  No blood or greesy, muddy liquid, only cold, unpleasant sweat.  He sighed, and pulled the covers up, laying his head back down onto the pillow.  But just as he was about to go to sleep once more, he heard an annoyed meow.
Something jumped up on his chest, startling him.  He cracked an eye open, peaking at the cat.  "...hello, pest.  Hmm.  I should really call you something else." he pondered before looking at the clock.  Oh god, it was already 9:25!  No wonder she was bugging him.
He jumped up, knocking the cat onto the floor in the process.  "Sorry, bud.  That was very unproffessional of me." he apologized, grabbing a breakfast bar from the small box on the floor, stuffing it in his mouth before running to the bathroom and cleaning himself up a bit, then scrambling to the front door.
He looked back at her, before turning around and crouching, scratching behind her ears.  "I realize that calling you 'pest' is sort of insulting and such, so...from this day on, you shall be known as Rose."  She tilted her head to the side, as if questioning his choice in names.  "Shoosh.  It's the best thing I could think of.  Just be glad I didn't name you 'Fluffy' or something like that."
As he stepped outside, Rose close behind, he realized something: he was yet to have payed for the repairs on his car, and thus, he was left stranded at his apartment for the time being.  He stood there for a few moments before taking out his phone.  "Yeah, um...I need to go somewhere but my car was just in an accident.  Could you come pick me up, Parker?"

Kendall stared at the pet store, cat in arms.  He swore, long ago, that he would never go to this place.  Well, too late for that.  He inched close, and the automatic door in front of him slid open easily.  He could still remember when people couldn't even dream of technology like that...that was a long time ago.  He stepped inside.
"Let's see...cat food, collar, tag, cat litter..." he quietly listed the things he'd need off the top of his head.  To be honest, he had no idea where to start, so he was pretty happy when an employee tapped him on the shoulder.  He turned around to find a man slightly taller than him, a pleasant smile on his face.  The blonde briefly wondered if all employees had the same expression on their face at work, because it sure seemed like it.  "Sir, would you like some help?"
He nodded slightly.  "Ah, yes...you see, I just got this cat here, and I've never really had a pet before, so I'm sort of bamboozled as to what things to get.  If you could make some suggestions, that would be...very helpful." he replied, shifting uncomfortably.
'Tim', as he learned after looking at the badge on the teen's shirt, showed him around, telling him about what he would need and how to deal with cats.  Soon, Kendall considered himself fully versed in the way of the feline, and he was ready to go set it all up.
He walked out of the store, pushing the cart containing Rose and his supplies to the somewhat small blue Volkswagon Bug.  "I hope you can fit all this stuff in that tiny thing, Parker." he said as the window rolled down.  The girl inside smiled.  "Please, call me Thorn.  And don't underestimate her.  This babys taken me on many a roadtrip, gear, food, the whole package."
Kendall laughed as he opened the the trunk, stuffing the supplies in it.  "If you say so, Thorn." he replied once he had somehow managed to get in all in there and still have been able to shut it.
He got in the passenger seat beside the brunette, and paused for a moment.  "...hey uh, by the way...  Thank you for all this, really, I'm grateful.  Sometimes, I don't know what I'd do without you.  So thanks." he said quietly, looking at her with a somewhat stern look on his face.
She looked at him for a few second before it was obvious she was trying to hold back laughter.  "Really, proff?  Is this what you're coming to these days?  But truly, you're my best friend!  And also one of my college proffessors.  So this is nothing compared to what you've done for me!  Anyways, stop being such a sap, just let me drive you back home so you can feed your damn cat." she ordered, and he knew that would be the end of that discussion.
She had always had that sort of air about her, whenever she told you to do something, you just...wanted to do it.  It just felt like the right thing.  She was a born leader if nothing else.  Perhaps that was why Kendall had felt so attracted to her(not in the romantic way of course,) even when she first stepped in his classroom.  It was too bad the next year would be her last year in his class.

Once Thorn dropped him off, the first thing he did was set up the food and water bowls for Rose, and then sat down on his couch.  "I'll set up everything else in just...a tiny bit, eh Rose?  I should get out more.  I don't think I realized it 'till now, but...well, nevermind.  Either way, I need just a little shuteye after carrying all that stuff around.  Yeah..." he told her, turning on his side.
He felt suddenly aware that he felt something, moving against the side of his face.  His breath hitched.  Eventually, after trying to simply ignore the strange feeling, he opened his eyes.  He was greeted by that strange man from before, amber brown pools staring down at him.  "...who are you?" he asked, whispering.  He realized that he should be afraid of this strange person who was affectionately gazing down at him, stroking Kendall's hair while holding his head in his lap, but he felt surprisingly calm.
"Zacharie Moodie, love." the man replied.  He was about to introduce himself as well, but Zacharie put a finger on his lips.  "I already know your name, you don't have to tell me," he paused, "I think you can help me."  He was about to ask exactly what he could help him with, but once again was cut off.
"I think it's about time you woke up, Mr. Skinner..." the raven haired man told him before snapping his fingers, and suddenly everything went black.

And then he woke up.
